Ahmed Addy, the unique rapper/singer/producer for the 5-6 Famalia, better known to the music world as A-Boy or Prince Ahmed, has already endured many trials and tribulations during his life. Ahmed was born in Liberia, and he moved to the states while he was six months old. During his early childhood, he migrated from Queens, NY, to Houston, to New Jersey, and eventually to Philadelphia, where he spent a good deal of time growing up. He became quite a troublemaker, he got into a lot of fights, and he engaged in countless risky situations. Growing up in a rough neighborhood in South West Philadelphia, Ahmed learned how to become street smart real quick.
He struggled with trouble, but at the same time, he tried to be a role model for his younger siblings. While living his troubled life, he still excelled in his schoolwork, and he had big dreams. He realized he wanted to get himself and his family out of the difficult binds they suffered through. He turned to music for an outlet. He found a unique knack for making beats. He eventually got a keyboard, and with his younger brother Yung Canon, they formed 5-6 Famalia. Yung Canon was already a natural at the microphone with his flow and intelligent lyrics. A-Boy began rapping and singing as well. Destined to become famous one day, Ahmed and the rest of 5-6 Famalia decided that music will be their life.
With close family and friends who support him in every step of the way, as well as a developing relationship with God, A-Boy will not let anything get in his way to make it big in the music industry. While he currently attends Penn State University, his main focus is music along with his brothers. Ahmed enjoys many of today's famous rap artists, but he does not want to be a carbon copy of them. He would rather make complex beats that all sound different from each other, than make one distinct sound.
He is influenced by artists in several styles of music, especially hip-hop, r & b, reggae, and rock. He has the work ethic of 50 Cent mixed with influence from artists such as Cassidy, T.I., Outkast, Gnarls Barkley, Bob Marley, N.E.R.D., Jimi Hendrix, Coldplay, System of a Down, and more. He writes so many different styles of lyrics that display all the ups and downs he's encountered so far in his life. He makes music for people of all walks of life, not just one demographic. His lyrics are real, no matter what kind of song he makes. Ahmed continues to make big moves in the music industry. Ahmed has the entrepreneurial spirit as well. He is one of the co-owners of Dreamland Productions, which is a rapidly growing media productions company soon to make big headlines. He is also preparing a clothing line as well. Ahmed channels all of his time into contributing to his bright future. Destined for a better life for him and his family, Ahmed is constantly making new music in his home studio. He is more focused and hungrier than ever. With his blend of hustler's ambition, raw talent, out-of-the-box sounds, strong faith, he has all the tools to succeed in life.
