The kid who was originally born in the south was raised in the east, where he began the art of expressing himself through the works of music. He became a rapper as well as an entertainer. Amtacious Addy, aka Yung Canon was born in Houston, Texas and migrated to several states such as New York and New Jersey. He now resides in Southwest Philadelphia where most of his childhood and young adult life took place. However getting around was not a choice for him. Money issues were something that everybody had and Y.C did not want to spend the rest of his life that way. He has undergone risky situations in order to get paid, but the events that followed made him wiser than ever. Yung Canon is not one to boast about his past experience, but if you're that curious to find out, you can carefully listen between the lines in his lyrics to better understand what Canon has been through. Yung Canon has been rapping for eight years.
Yung Canon formed the 5-6 Famalia along with his biological brothers, A-Boy and Holliwood. In addition to his music group, he has formed a clique called The District who will help to smooth out his path to fame. The District is a number of devoted members and loyal companions who are there with Canon for the best times as well as the worst. The 5-6 Famalia is officially closed but The District is always open for the true hearted ones. Before you can be initiated, you basically have to go through the 5-6 Famalia. They know the real people from the fake ones because that's how the hood taught them. "When you get stabbed in the back you learn a lot, you become more intelligent and wise. That's how you narrow it down to being street smart" Y.C. said.
Aside from his personal life, Yung Canon is a very unique artist and tends to affiliate with any thing that can bring his music to a whole new different level. He strives to reach out to all races, colors and creeds. In addition to all the 5-6 Famalia music, he has recorded many solo tracks displaying a portrait of his different emotions. His older brother (Ahmed Addy) possesses a brilliant mind for making beats so Y.C. decided to feed off his brother's creativity by laying his vocals down and dishing his music to the public. Yung Canon is influenced by many artists in rap, as well as artists in other genres of music.
Some of his biggest influences include 2-Pac, 50 Cent, The Game, Jay-Z, Cassidy, Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne, R. Kelly, The Temptations, Kurt Cobain, and so many others. He would love to be signed to a major record label, along with 5-6 Famalia, with the talent they possess and the drive they bring to the table, there is nothing that will bring them down. He picks himself back up even through the worst times, and everyday he gives thanks to The Almighty God. He performs and sells his demos around the nation. He cares a lot about his fans and the people who showed their support. He appreciates all that they do for them. "There were a lot of people who did me wrong and I am happy for that!" he stated. "It only showed that they doubt me, and when I do make it, they can believe anything is possible. God do deliver, not man."
Yung Canon speaks about the rough elements of life he grew up with. He talks about life in the hood, as well as past relationships, and personal demons. His music is not just for one demographic. Many people can relate to his lyrics. No matter where you are from, or who you are, Yung Canon’s music has touched people in many different ways. Ladies and Gentlemen, The growth of Yung Canon is just beginning! Yung Canon and the rest of 5-6 Famalia are on the grind non-stop, and they will not slow down even when they achieve their dreams.
